Can teachers have rigor and emphasize the math standards to spark deeper understanding for ELs? Yes they can! The session presents features of effective lesson design for ELs and then models how to implement them in a lesson taught in Portuguese.

In this interactive session, the presenters will take you through the linguistic challenges of word problem-solving and argumentation for English learners. They will introduce the 3 Reads strategy that you can use to ensure students have access to the language and content of mathematics.
