Alecia McGill

Bonita Unified Schools
Instructional Math Coach/Teacher
San Dimas, CA
2019 marks Alecia’s 18th year of teaching with the last 4 years including working as an instructional math coach while teaching 2 sections of Integrated Math 1. Prior to that, Alecia taught middle school math and Algebra 1 for fifteen years, including nine of the years in Michigan. In 2013, she self published the discovery math supplemental program: Math LABS (C) and in 2018 wrote a methodology book about the exploratory program. She’s had the pleasure of sharing this joyous method with teachers across the nation who have been piloting the program with great success. When she’s not "mathing", she enjoy spending time with her three children ages 19, 15 and 14, but if she’s honest; she admits; she’s always "mathing!” She’s been an advocate for exploratory math education her entire career, mainly because she was fortunate enough to teach using two exploratory programs since her very first year teaching in 2002 in Southeast Michigan! She has blogged about her ideas on her YouTube channel and shares some of her curriculum content there. You can follow her on Twitter @connectcoremath
